My name is Ly and I belong to the Black Hmong minority who live in the Lao Chai commune of Sapa. Having grown up in Sapa, I know that the life here for our people is not easy. As in the past it was hard for us to go to school, many medium-aged and elderly people are not literate. There are still many people who cannot read or write, so it is difficult for them to find a job anywhere. Their main job and occupation is to grow rice and tend the rice fields and the few farm animals they can have. But we are a one-crop-a-year region, and even in this part of the world, it is hard to live all year long on a single rice crop –not to mention sending your children to high school or university, which is almost impossible for many of us. That’s why I would like to set up a website for tour sales, to support and create new employment opportunities for people in this region.
